Funding Review Criteria and Funding Scope

The following table sets forth the Funding Review criteria, score ranges, and corresponding funding scope under the Patent Funding Program.
Grade, Score Range, and Funding Scope

A 80 or above Eligible for domestic filing under ITVC Funding and included as a candidate for Foreign Funding Review
B 70 or above Eligible for domestic filing under ITVC Funding
C 60 or above Eligible for provisional specification filing in Korea under ITVC Funding
D Below 60 Not eligible for ITVC Funding (filing may proceed under Lab Funding, if necessary)

Exceptions and Exclusions

Early Filing
  • 1A provisional specification filing may be conducted prior to completion of the formal Domestic Funding Review
  • 2Domestic Funding Review may be requested thereafter
Cases Not Eligible for ITVC Funding

In the following cases, funding under the Patent Funding Scheme shall not be provided:

1Provisional specification filing
2Request for accelerated examination
3Grade D under Domestic Funding Review
4Domestic or Foreign Filing through non-designated Patent Firms
5Joint patents with companies (cost allocation shall be determined through inter-institutional negotiation)

Re-consideration Procedure for Domestic Funding Review

Where the inventor or the responsible department has an objection to the results of the Domestic Funding Review, re-consideration may be requested once

  • 1Re-consideration may be requested once by the inventor or the responsible department
  • 2Additional supporting materials or technical supplements may be submitted
  • 3The score and grade may be reviewed and adjusted based on the submitted materials
  • 4The result of the re-consideration shall be deemed final
